Changing opinions

During my participation in this online blog I have noticed that my opinions are changing towards online education tools. I used to believe that traditional "websites" were the only way to go. Meaning the content was added by one person and it was secure. Since using blogs and WIKIS I can now see the many more advantages that these sites can offer students. They are able to engage with the site by being able to upload information, pictures, video and much more. This in turn enables students to work collaboratively on projects to achieve learning outcomes.
Has anyone else seen a change in their ideas towards online education tools?

  1. Yes Nick, i did not realise that there are are so many digital learning tools that i could use in the classroom. I suppose it was always the fear of not knowing how to use any of them to their best ability which inhibited me. After this course i will try to use some of them more and hopefully master them one day. Just like surfing i suppose.

  2. Hi Nick,
I totally agree with you! I initially began the course with the same mindset - thinking that Websites and powerpoints were the only 'technology' based resources out there.
But now, after engaging with so many new digital tools I can see just how important and fun learning through technology can be.
As teachers I think that by using these tools and perhaps going out of our comfort zones to some extent, to actually integreate technology into the classroom will be very beneficial for our learners.

  3. Hi Nick,

Just like Michael and Hannah I've also developed many new understanding in regards to digital learning tools, which i feel can only enhance the learning for students both in and out of the classroom. Unlike other tools used for learning, digital ones give students' an initiate to continue their studies further as well as outside of school.

What i think it is that i like most about digital learning tools is that they each offer an opportunity for one to express them-self. Even if it's as simple as choosing a cool background for your blog website, it immediately makes the tool a representation of who you are, and as a result 'hooks' students into the learning in many different ways.
